The nature of understanding, Part 2

Posted on Dec 28th, 2008 by Kevino : Philosopher Kevino

Why is intention important to spiritual growth? How can people live doing much the same things but one grow spiritually and one not?
The answer seems to be understanding. One can live along seeing the pieces of life and never break them down so one gets each piece. That assimilation is knowledge. Without intending to know one is unlikely to. Intention is a harmonic of understanding. We use intention to arrive at full understanding.

This setup is actually a fine protective measure for the game. One can live and live and never know this is not a game field. One can even understand brilliant astrological and mathematical structures yet not make them part of oneself simply by looking at them as objects that are to be known as objects instead of as each one itself.

To grow, simply intend to see things as they are. Each thing is itself. One can then move on to putting the pieces together. This works for people too as we all have different viewpoints. It is really much easier than it sounds. Just see things as they are without your own ideas about them. A suggeston is to pick out the ones you find easiest first.

The “Simplify Your Life” movement came to mind. I think it has some relevance here, because it really seems like folks are in such a spin of wild overwhelm that focusing on the lettuce in their salad is the last thing in mind : ) This also brings up the “be in the moment” concept. The same game, different names. How deeply broken down do you go in intention/attention?

One putsintentiontoward something one wishes to exist. Attention is focus on what is. Since attention is love intention will be something less, but necessary to get the ball rolling.

Being in the moment is attention. But full attention is pretty tough to reach in this universe. One does the best one can.

That’s a great definition of the two! Thank you!!! : ) I’m still honing a very limited number of moments in attention for each day… no thoughts of FULL attention on the horizon as yet, ha ha.

I have zero moments of full attention nearly every day. Because full attention equals full love equals full understanding. A few weeks ago I was talking to a friend of mine who had a different viewpoint on something, and I got to the point that I completely agreed with her. I suddenly wentblank! I was outside the physical universe, an important point if you get the full model of how the unvierse works. We can grow by getting other viewpoints, honestly given.GAIA can be a rich deposit of viewpoints.

I can’t know for sure that it’s the same deal, but I think how these hit me is in a surging wave of heat and brightness that I decipher as consuming love… yep, rare… but very, very, very cool (kinda can’t be understated more than that, very wordless).
